Join us for the Patapsco Heritage Greenway 2017 Annual Meeting on May 3. Following a brief business meeting, we will hear from noted speaker Ross Kimmel about:
The Union Army and the Thomas Viaduct
The main railroad linking the North and South crossed the Patapsco River on the Thomas Viaduct. Whoever controlled that route controlled the flow of men and materiel for the Civil War. Union troops were stationed at Relay and in Howard County to protect the bridge. We know how the War turned out, but do you know the stories of the troops on the Patapsco? Ross Kimmel, Civil War expert, author, and retired chief historian for the Maryland Park Service, will talk about what it was like in 1861 -1865 at this key, border-state post.
Admission is free, but reservations are required due to limited seating.
